Waterra eDNA Filters

Waterra eDNA Filters are purpose-built for capturing environmental DNA from surface water bodies such as ponds, streams, and lakes. By pumping water through the inline disposable filter, DNA shed by living organisms into the water column is captured in the filter media and preserved for extraction in a laboratory setting Waterra — making it possible to detect the presence of target species, including invasive organisms, without the need for traditional netting or physical collection methods.

An advantage of Waterra eDNA filters is their large surface area — available in either 300 cm² or 600 cm² — which allows substantial volumes of water to be processed, International Fisheries Section increasing the likelihood of capturing eDNA even when target species are at low densities. Filters are available in five pore sizes to suit different sampling protocols, and each filter is individually bagged and includes two end caps to securely contain a preservation buffer after sampling. Waterra also offers compatible peristaltic pumps, tubing, syringes, and a field shaker to support the complete eDNA collection workflow.
